Daily Care, With Intention

“Having a baby takes so much from you. It’s the most glorious thing you’ll ever do, but the aftermath is not so glorious!”

— Halle Berry

The Mission

The early newborn phase comes with significant change in a short amount of time. I wanted to create a program that provides steadiness, structure, and support, while offering families reassurance, encouragement, and breathing room.

Baby Steps is a niche that exists to provide short-term, weekday newborn care designed specifically for the first 2-12 weeks of life. The program offers daytime care in a small group setting allowing families time to rest, recover, work, or focus on other children as new routines begin to take shape.

Care is hands-on, intentional, observant, collaborative, and guided by clinical experience-not trial and error. Throughout the program, this approach reduces and eliminates the need for parental guesswork as they’re learning their new baby. I believe taking “baby steps” from feeding and soothing, to observing cues can make a big difference for both baby and parents.

The Focus

During the program, care centers around:

  • Daytime newborn care in a calm, small-group environment.

  • Feeding support (formula/breastmilk plans, Gtube/NG feeds, schedules) tracking intake and pacing patterns while watching for intolerances and abnormal trends.

  • Output tracking by recording output to monitor hydration and digestion.

  • Soothing & Settling using hands-on strategies to calm your baby, tailored in real time to their responses.

  • Routine guidance and transitions: sleep, wake, and feeding routines are structured with adjustments made based on how your baby reacts.

  • “Feedback loop” style care: every signal your baby gives informs how I respond: observe, act, watch, adjust to ensure consistent, predictable support.

  • Developmental observation by identifying what’s normal vs concerning so you know what’s typical and what may require attention

  • Parental guidance as I teach and assist you in interpreting cues and implementing strategies so you can maintain control and consistency for weeks to come

  • Clear communication with parents

  • Following medical instructions (if applicable)

  • Medication administration (if applicable)
